BATCH Background - From Roommates To Entrepreneurs

Founded by three lifelong friends, BATCH CBD was a passion project turned business venture. Co-founders Dennis, Griff, and Andy grew up in the greater Milwaukee area and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where they fostered their entrepreneurial spirit (ask us about Greek Street Food Truck).

From there, their passion to serve the community evolved into the CBD brand you know and love today.

Their background in chemistry and the legalization of hemp in Wisconsin was a springboard for crafting the best-in-class formulas BATCH offers today.

Step 1 - It All Starts On The Farm

Neillsville, WI is our fertile grow location. It’s a rural town nestled next to the Black River, rolling hills, and home to generations of farmers.

Rollin and his family have been farming in Neillsville, WI for three generations!

Umpqua is our hardy hemp strain. It has a stellar cannabinoid and terpene profile, making it the perfect choice for a full-spectrum hemp product. 

Step 2 - Extraction Time

In small batches, we take our Umpqua hemp and extract the CBD oil by soaking it into a cold ethanol bath. This process selectively extracts the beneficial compounds in the hemp plant.

Step 3 - Formulas By Experts

Our CBD specialists and certified chemists formulate every blend you see at BATCH. Each blend was rigorously developed through hundreds of iterations to find the most effective recipe. 

Once our CBD extract is ready, we blend it with organic carrier oils and terpene blends. These are the tasteful and effective CBD oils you know and love.

This is where the magic happens.

Step 4 - Internal Testing

To make sure our blends are up to snuff, we first create an internal test report. This ensures that our products are full of rich cannabinoids.

Step 5 - Finished Products

Once the formulas are tested and good to go, we bring the CBD product to completion. We fill and label our bottles with an eye for detail. Each container has a tamper evident device for your safety.

Step 6 - Third Party Tests

Once manufactured, we send BATCH products off to third party labs for further testing. Here’s where we test for contamination and validate our internal tests. It is critical to perform these tests as hemp is a bioaccumulator.

The Entourage Effect

This has nothing to do with the tv show (maybe in other circles, but not this one)! But it has everything to do with how a cannabinoid’s effects and benefits change when presented with other cannabinoids/compounds. 

The Entourage Effect is a term for the synergistic benefit derived from all compounds found in the hemp plant. CBD is just one beneficial cannabinoid, but paired with THC, minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and other hemp compounds, a greater therapeutic benefit is achieved than any one compound in isolation.

CBD, THC, minor cannabinoids, and even some terpenes all interact with your Endocannabinoid System (ECS). Your ECS regulates a wide range of biological processes (sleep, appetite, memory, immune function, pain response to name a few). By pairing CBD with other compounds that interact with the ECS, it increases the effectiveness of CBD. 

Dr. Ethan Russo is a leader in medicinal cannabis research and has shared multiple papers supporting the Entourage Effect. Many users have experienced little to no benefit from CBD isolate products, but have been helped greatly by full-spectrum products due to the Entourage Effect.

A 2020 study also found that cannabinoids and terpenes have a combined entourage effect, which may also have an impact on the treatment of mood disorders. It also suggests that terpenes may be a beneficial addition to overall cannabis-based effects.

Will CBD Get Me High?

No. Our CBD oil will not get you high. This is because our products have trace concentrations of THC, less than the legally required 0.3%. This means that you can enjoy the effects of CBD without feeling high or euphoric as with a higher THC product. 

We also test our BATCH blend internally and use third-party testing to ensure you safely enjoy your CBD experience. 

When Should I Try CBD?

CBD is generally well tolerated for daily use. You can always start with a smaller dose (half a gummy or half the dropper amount for a tincture) and then work up to a higher one.

Many users take CBD in the morning before work to ease into the day while others take it before bed to get a good night’s sleep.
